Our first place to visit will be the Santa Teresa's Monastery, recently open to the public. Built with our typical white sillar, volcanic stone, which is the reason why Arequipa is known as "The White City". This construction is of the XVI century. It was a Monastery with a system of rigorous confinement. Inside you will visit the cloisters with an important collection of wall paintings, pictures, sculptures in different materials and many interesting objects of the XVI to XIX centuries. It has 12 exhibition halls and museums with incomparable artistic possessions. Then, we will go forward to Saint Francisco's Complex that is to say, the Church, Cloisters and the Third Order Church. This is one of the most interesting architectonic complex of old Arequipa surrounded by many beautiful houses and colonial mansions in the nearby streets, like Zela, Ugarte, San Francisco. Going towards the Chili river you will see the mentioned streets with big old houses with tall walls, gracious balconies which give to this part of the city a special charm. Crossing Puente Grau (Grau Bridge) we will arrive to the traditional colonial district of Yanahuara, where you will appreciate closely the snowcapped volcano of Chachani. To the left hand we will go to the city neighborhood of La Recoleta. There you will visit the Convent of La Recoleta, Church and cloisters, as well as the pre-Columbian and amazonic museums. Finally we will go to San Lázaro, the oldest district of Arequipa, where the people was established before its official foundation. San Lazaro has many narrow streets and all of them meet together in a plaza called Campo Redondo, showing an old and colonial aspect
